The search for relatives of our original Board of Directors begins
1 May 2018 • Corporate
Cambridge Building Society is searching for family descendants of their original Board of Directors, to help celebrate the launch of their new Central Cambridge store.
The Cambridge is delving into its history and connections to key figures and organisations in the local community as part of their plans to mark the opening of their new store, which is pretty much in the same location as their very first permanent offices that were established in Post Office Terrace in 1884. The long-standing branch on St Andrews Street in the centre of Cambridge closed over the weekend and their new store, located at 4 St Andrews Street, offers much improved facilities for customers and opened its doors yesterday!
The Cambridge will be officially launching the new store on 15th May 2018, when they are hoping to invite family descendants of their Board of Directors from that time (around 1850 – 1890). Tracking family members down has proved difficult so they are putting out an appeal for anyone who has a connection to contact them.
Stephen Mitcham, the Chief Executive commented that “Our Central Cambridge store provides a vibrant, contemporary space perfectly combining technology with the expertise of our advisers, something we know customers really value.
“Launching this new store has given us the opportunity to look back at our roots and the original ideals which created the foundations that the Society is built on. It would be wonderful to meet the relatives of the people that helped to create this movement all those years ago and to show them that our commitment to the strong values originally set when The Society was created, are still evidenced throughout our business today.”
