The Cambridge Building Society has won the Best IT Team award in the annual FSTech Financial Services Awards.

Our IT team won the award for implementing an innovative large scale move of our core banking infrastructure to a cloud-based system – believed to be the first in the UK by a building society.

Our team moved millions of pounds of assets, and hundreds of thousands of items of customer data, e-banking, mobile apps, savings and mortgage and payment processes, from a traditional data centre-hosted platform to a cloud-based system during a seamless eight-hour window over a weekend, with no customer impact.

Our Head of IT and Change, Trevor Tannenbaum, said: “I’m really proud of the team we’ve put together and to see their hard work pay off on a national stage is testament to that.

“They worked tirelessly to ensure this migration was seamless, and was implemented on time, on budget and with no customer or staff disruption. It’s a fantastic achievement for the team and I’m thrilled to see them pick up the win at the FSTech Awards.”

The team found out they’d won at a black tie dinner in London on Thursday, 17th March. Other shortlisted companies in the Best IT Team category were Charles Schwab Financial Research Technology, J.P. Morgan Asset Management, Schwab Asset Management and Synechron.
