The Cambridge Building Society has appointed renowned Chartered Accountant Fiona Hotston Moore as a Non-Executive Director.
Fiona is a forensic accounting Partner at chartered accountancy firm Ensors and was named Partner of the Year at the 2017 British Accountancy Awards.
In her role as Non-Executive Director Fiona will join the Audit Committee and will work closely with current chair Stuart Cruickshank in anticipation of her succeeding him after this year’s AGM.
This will be the first time in The Cambridge’s history that its audit committee has a female chair.
Fiona is no stranger to leading the way when it comes to gender diversity and as Managing Partner at MRI Moores Rowland she became one of only two women to run a top UK accountancy firm.
She said: “Women do bring different skills and it’s important to have that balance and diversity. It’s important for younger women to have role models to aspire to so it won’t be unusual to see a greater proportion of women on Boards.”
Fiona’s distinguished career has seen her provide audit, tax and commercial advice to a wide variety of international groups, listed companies and entrepreneurs. She has worked with businesses across a range of industries, from retail financial services to technology and media.
On her appointment to The Cambridge’s Board she said: “I’m passionate about East Anglia so it’s good to be coming back to more of a focus in Cambridgeshire. I respect The Cambridge’s ethos of housing and opportunity for all and find what the organisation stands for is consistent with my values. I’m impressed with what’s already been achieved and looking forward to helping The Cambridge make the difference.”
The Cambridge’s Chairman Jonathan Spence said: “Fiona is an excellent and very welcome addition to our Board with a wealth of experience that will offer immeasurable value to The Cambridge.”
