We’re proud to play our part in the Cambridgeshire Coronavirus Community Fund reaching an incredible milestone of £1 million, with a donation of £10,000.
Now approaching its sixth month, the fundraising project has exceeded its original ambition of securing £100,000 to help vulnerable people across Cambridgeshire. For many in our community, the effects of Coronavirus are still being felt, but through the generosity of individuals and local business, the scheme has been able to provide immediate support to people in need of a helping hand.
The fund has already awarded a staggering £703,729 to an impressive 181 charities and community groups, providing essential support to vulnerable people in our local area. Those most at risk owing to emerging issues during the pandemic are receiving aid with food provisions, mental health support, bereavement support, domestic abuse, provision of PPE and more.
The public response to the fundraising appeal now offers the Cambridgeshire Coronavirus Community Fund the opportunity to shift from an emergency to a recovery perspective. The fund will now turn its focus to further strengthen charities that are in the strongest position to support vulnerable people. This includes rebuilding community and key support groups that are most connected with at risk people, by developing long term models of sustainability.
