About the role

You’ll be in a small team working towards the attraction of new team members through the recruitment process; while motivating, retaining and engaging all internal stakeholders. You’ll provide excellent advice and support to our team members, whilst getting involved in all aspects of The Cambridge.

This is a perfect opportunity for an established HR generalist to gain experience in Financial Services.

Salary and working hours

Starting salary £28,000.00 per annum

Monday to Friday 8:45am - 5:00pm (36.25 hours per week)

12 months maternity cover


What you’ll be doing be doing day-to-day?

Working with hiring managers, understand the needs of each vacancy and create bespoke adverts to ensure candidates are bought into the business with the right fit and abilities

Manage sickness absence, capabilities, disciplinary and grievances escalating to the People Manager when appropriate

Oversee payroll ensuring it is managed on a monthly basis carrying out the monthly checking process

In collaboration with the L&D Specialist lead the Society’s Health and Wellbeing initiatives

Carry out projects throughout the year that enhance the people function and support overall business objectives to become a digital society powered by people


You will be someone that:

Is qualified to CIPD Level 5 Diploma in Human Resource Practice

Has working knowledge of payroll and HMRC

Is experienced in employment law

Has excellent organisational skills

Has the ability to influence and build strong internal and external partnerships

Has excellent at written and verbal communication

Is able to offer practical advice and solutions

Has an in depth knowledge of HR policy, procedure and best practices
