Council Saver accounts

At The Cambridge we offer a range of Council Saver accounts that are available to both Parish and Town Councils.

Our Council Saver accounts include our Easy Access Council Saver that allows you to make up to two withdrawals a month. Alternatively, our Notice Council Saver account offers a higher rate of interest and allows you to make as many withdrawals as you require subject to giving us notice.

In addition we offer 6 Month, 1 Year and 2 Year Council Saver Bonds that offer the security of a fixed rate of interest for a fixed term.

So whatever your needs, we'll have a savings account to suit you.

We have significant investments from individuals, local authorities, solicitors, charities and a range of local businesses, all of whom are attracted to the Society by a combination of (i) our financial strength and stability; (ii) our competitive rates; and (iii) the quality of our service.

Financial Strength

• The Society has made a profit in every one of its 162 year existence and has strong levels of capital and liquidity, the two key measures of financial strength.
• The Society’s 2011 Annual Report & Accounts show a liquidity ratio of 24.7%.
• The Society is predominately funded by deposits from individuals, with less than 5% of its funding coming from wholesale funding. 
• The Society's capital is made up wholly of Tier 1, the strongest possible level of capital, consisting entirely of retained earnings. Our Tier 1 capital ratio is 15.2%, significantly above the minimum 7% required under EU capital standards. 
• The Society is regulated by the FSA which also reviews the Society's capital adequacy in the normal course of its supervision.
