The What Mortgage? awards are among the most respected in the country and recognise lenders that provide good value products through a combination of rates and fees.

Beating off competition from other regional building societies, the Cambridge Building Society received the award for providing the most competitive standard variable mortgage rate over five years, and was also voted 6th overall Best Lender of the Year– ahead of many of the UK’s significantly bigger banks and building societies.

The Society’s Chief Executive, Stephen Mitcham, received the award at the What Mortgage? awards ceremony held at the Café Royal in London, “We are absolutely delighted to have not only won but also retained such a prestigious award for the second year. Considering the size and number of other mortgage providers we compete against, winning the What Mortgage? award, as well as our overall top ten position, is a fantastic achievement.

“The Society has an ongoing commitment to offering an attractive range of mortgage and savings products to our members and we see this award as a real reflection of this approach and our policy of providing long term value and delivering a quality service.”
