A special award is up for grabs for Parent Teacher Associations in Newmarket as The Cambridge Building Society pledge to donate £500 to one local school.

The initiative will aim to encourage PTAs in Newmarket to actively fundraise to help start/finish any community based projects with the added incentive that they could receive an additional £500.00 from The Cambridge Building Society.

In celebration of the 2011 Newmarket Festival The Cambridge Building Society’s Newmarket branch is asking PTAs in the area to submit the project outline with details of how they will match the £500 with their own fundraising efforts.

The Cambridge is committed to helping the local community and this is a way for schools to benefit from the funds available.

David Turner, Branch Sales Manager at The Cambridge’s Newmarket Branch says: “We want to encourage local parents and teachers to come forward and bid for this sum of money, which will help fund a project that will benefit local children. We are dedicated to helping the local community and we think that this is an excellent cause.”

The Cambridge has been a part of the local community for over 160 years, offering a competitive range of products and services from savings and investments to mortgages and insurance.

To apply for the funding, PTA’s can contact David Turner at The Cambridge Building Society, 50 The Guineas, Newmarket, Suffolk, CB8 8EQ, by 30th June 2011 detailing:

  • What the project is
  • What benefits the project will have for a local school/community
  • How you will be raising money
  • How much you aim to raise

Staff at The Cambridge Building Society will choose a winner based on the following criteria and will write to inform PTA’s of the decision no later than the 15th July 2011.

Judging Criteria:

  • The considered impact that the project will have on the school/local community
  • What the PTA commit to doing to fundraise/have already done to raise funds
  • How much you have raised so far/aim to raise

Only one entry is permitted per PTA and a cheque will be presented to the winning PTA at a date to be confirmed in July.
