Local Businesses Help The Cambridge Raise Money for SANE and Anxiety UK

SANE presentation

From L-R Lauren Thomas, Branch Sales Adviser at The Cambridge, Victoria James, Flexible Resourcing Assistant at The Cambridge and Kate Atkin from Aspire 2.

Inspired by Cambridge teacher Stuart Jessup’s 2500 mile walk around England to raise awareness of mental health issues, staff at The Cambridge Building Society recently raised £327.00 for SANE and Anxiety UK.

Victoria James and Lauren Thomas presented a cheque to Stuart’s wife, Kate Atkin from Aspire 2, who runs training courses for The Cambridge.

Kate Atkin says “I am thrilled to receive this support from The Cambridge and on behalf of Anxiety UK and SANE would like to thank them for their fundraising efforts. Having spoken to Victoria and Lauren I know they learnt a lot about team work, and about each other, through organising the day”

The fundraising included a raffle, a dress down day and a cake stall.

A collection of local businesses contributed items to the raffle to help raise money for the charities who both aim to help improve the quality of life for anyone affected by mental illness and anxiety disorders.

Victoria James, Flexible Resourcing Assistant at The Cambridge says: “We decided to hold this day to help raise money for SANE and Anxiety UK as they are well recognised charities that need all the support they can get.

“On behalf of The Cambridge, I would like to thank the businesses that donated prizes to the raffle. We couldn’t have achieved this without their support.

“We are looking forward to joining Stuart for a day of his walk when he reaches the Norfolk coast in May”

More details about the walk can be found at www.walkingontheedge.org.uk and Stuart’s progress can be followed through his daily blog www.facebook.com/englandwalk or you can tweet him @englandwalk.
