The Cambridge Appoints Hazell
For the first time in its 161 year history, The Cambridge Building Society has made the decision to hire a PR Officer to increase its local and national visibility.
After embarking on an impressive re-branding process in March, The Cambridge, currently the 14th largest Building Society appointed Suzanne Hazell as the Society’s PR Officer.
Hazell, 25 from Manchester will be responsible for raising the awareness of The Cambridge nationally as well as looking after the local and regional PR for the Society’s 19 branches.
Carole Charter, Marketing Manager at The Cambridge says: “This is a huge step for The Cambridge and something that is completely new to the Society. We have relied on PR agencies in the past but we felt that it was time to bring the PR function in house to maximise our day to day visibility to both consumers and the trade.”
Suzanne Hazell who comes from an agency background moved from Manchester in January 2011 after taking four months out of the industry to travel. She says: “I am incredibly pleased to have been appointed as The Cambridge’s new PR Officer. The Cambridge has gone through an impressive re-branding process and my arrival at the Society comes at an exciting time. I will be focusing on putting The Cambridge on the map and raising awareness about the innovative and competitive products that The Cambridge has to offer.
“Unfortunately people have lost trust in financial service providers and it is now my job to show that The Cambridge is a Society that people can have faith in when they are looking for savings and mortgage products.”
The Cambridge was first established in 1850 and is an independent, mutual organisation with over 130,000 members and assets of almost £900 million. The Society’s head office is based in the centre of Cambridge supporting a network of 19 branches located in the majority of nearby towns and surrounding villages within a 30-mile radius of Cambridge.
