On Friday 25th November, 2011 at 11am The Cambridge Building Society presented three local charities with cheques after successfully raising over £5,000 at a VIP race night in October.

The evening, which saw local businesses come together at Cambridge Rugby Union Football Club was a huge success and has enabled The Cambridge to hand over £1,702.00 to each of the three charities; Papworth Trust, The Alzheimer’s Society and Opportunities Without Limits.

Marcus Barber, Supporter Relations Manager from Papworth Trust says: “We would like to thank everyone at The Cambridge Building Society and all those who attended the Race Night, for their hard work and generous support, on what was a fantastic and entertaining evening.  The funds raised for Papworth Trust will help us to support more disabled people to have equality, choice and independence. If anyone else would like to support our work, please visit www.papworth.org.uk/supportus.”

Russell Rolph, Community Fundraiser at the Alzheimer’s Society says: “As a Charity, Alzheimer's Society relies upon the generosity and goodwill of individuals and organisations like The Cambridge Building Society. The donated monies will help to support and maintain our local dementia services, and is much appreciated".

Cathy Short, Team Leader at Opportunities Without Limits says: "It was great to have the opportunity to take part in the fundraising race night with The Cambridge Building Society, particularly to feel the excitement in the room during the auction as more and more money was raised! I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of OWL to thank everyone that supported this fantastic event, helping us to help more people with disabilities."

Roy Badcock, Head of Corporate Affairs says: “We are thrilled that we managed to raise such a significant sum of money and are delighted to be able to present the cheques to these three worthwhile charities. We couldn’t have achieved this without the generous people who attended the event and who donated prizes for the raffle. Thank you to everyone involved!”
