Society takes part in Treasure Punt

06.07.2007

Cambridge Building Society staff swapped their pens for poles last week, as they took part in Marie Curie Cancer Care's Punt Race and Treasure Hunt.

A total of 41 Society staff members and their families entered 7 teams for the event, many in fancy dress, raising a bumper £820 for the charity.

The event involved racing along the River Cam on punts before heading off into the city hunting for clues and treasures. Despite a valiant effort, the Society teams were pipped at the post by winners 'Treasure Punters' who completed the race in record time. However their efforts were rewarded at the end of the race with a sizzling barbecue and some live entertainment.

Commenting on the event, Customer Services Assistant Sonia James said:

"This was a really fun event and we all enjoyed taking part. It was a great way of raising funds for such a worthwhile cause."

Funds raised will help Marie Curie Cancer Care provide high quality home nursing, free of charge, to terminally ill patients.
