Thousands of pounds have been raised for local causes thanks to the efforts of nearly 900 runners who took part in the Sawston Fun Run and Walk on Sunday 29th April.
The event, organised by Sawston District Rotary Club and sponsored by Cambridge Building Society, raised nearly £15,000 for twelve beneficiaries.
Tony Collett, chairman of the committee said:
"This year's event was another success in bringing the community together. Thanks to the support of Cambridge Building Society, our major sponsor, we were able to involve over 100 retailers, some 30 businesses, and 865 entrants in the annual event that is forecasted to raise nearly £15,000 for local causes.
The number of people taking part was larger than we've had for a number of years. It was a great community event and we are very grateful to Cambridge Building Society and our other sponsors and advertisers for all their support."

The 2007 Sawston Fun Run gets underway.
The four major charities chosen this year included Addenbrookes' Breast Cancer Unit, Milton Children's Hospice, Meldreth Manor School and Riding for the Disabled, Sawston.
Other beneficiaries included Camread; Cambridge Joint Playschemes; Domino Nursery School of Fulbourn; The Jigsaw Playgroup of Sawston; Sawston Friday Night Club; Opportunities Without Limits of Sawston; Sawston Forum for the Disabled, Sunnyside Pre-school of Stapleford.
Cambridge Building Society has been involved with the Sawston Fun Run since its inception 20 years ago, both in terms of organisation and funding. This year 40 members of staff took part, including the Society's new chief executive Stephen Mitcham. As well as forming a team of walkers and runners, staff manned water stations, handed out certificates at the finish line and awarded prizes to the winning runners.
