Learning & Development
The Cambridge is fully committed to providing learning and development opportunities in order to support business objectives and individual skills development. Our initial induction offers a comprehensive understanding of our products and services and is tailored to your role. We provide learning through presentations, in-the-role with the support of line management, cross functional sessions and e-learning modules.
Staff have a half yearly performance review that provides one to one discussion and feedback on how you are performing in your role against personal objectives and a review against the Society’s behavioural framework. Once a year all staff have a separate career discussion with their line manager to shape career aspirations and enable succession planning and learning plans to be developed.
The Society offers a range of soft skills training as well as technical sales and product training delivered via workshops and e-learning initiatives. In addition professional qualifications can be supported that are relevant to individual job roles which include:
- Certificate in Retail Banking Conduct of Business (Cert RCBC)
- Diploma in Financial Services Management (DFSM)
- Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMap)
- Finance, Marketing and Human Resources professional examinations
In 2010 we initiated our Fast Track Development Programme where we attract candidates from within the Society and external sixth form or graduate students who wish to develop their career within financial services. This programme is primarily focused in our customer facing sales teams within the Branch, Customer Contact Centre and Membership Services departments. The programme provides additional project work both inside and outside of the Society and will enable successful members to fast track through to our Supervisory Development Programme, for further opportunity to first line management roles.
Our internally developed Supervisory Development Programme has been externally accredited and provides an Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) qualification.
Our Chief Executive is very keen to ensure that our prospective and incoming managers have a degree or professional equivalent qualification. Those who did not take this initial education route will be considered for this opportunity via the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) degree qualification programme; the Society regularly sponsors individuals via small groups working with an external facilitator to achieve success.
